Capturing the Dynamic Beauty of the Mediterranean Sea
The Mediterranean Sea is dynamic and unpredictable.
These long exposure seascapes focus on movement, textured rock formations, and the changing rhythm of light and clouds.

The Mediterranean coast of Israel is a landscape shaped by light, wind, and constant movement. In this collection, I explore the dynamic relationship between sculpted sandstone cliffs, shifting tides, working boats, and vast open horizons. Each photograph reflects a different mood of the same sea—sometimes calm and minimalist, sometimes powerful and untamed.
Golden kurkar ridges glow under warm sunset light as waves wrap around their edges in long, flowing exposures. The textured rock formations, carved by centuries of erosion, create strong leading lines that guide the eye toward the horizon. In contrast, dramatic winter swells crash against the shoreline, frozen mid-impact beneath heavy clouds, revealing the raw energy of the Mediterranean.
Several images focus on water in motion—cascading over flat reef shelves like temporary waterfalls before retreating back into deeper blue. Long exposures soften the surface into a mist-like veil, transforming restless waves into smooth, almost ethereal layers. This technique emphasizes the tension between permanence and change: solid rock anchored in place, water endlessly reshaping it.
Human presence appears subtly throughout the series. A solitary tugboat cutting through rough seas, small fishing boats resting in a quiet harbor, and a weathered shipwreck partially submerged in sand all add narrative depth. These elements speak to the coastline not only as a natural space, but as a living environment shaped by industry, tradition, and time.
Minimalist compositions of isolated rocks emerging from silky water highlight form and balance, while wide-angle perspectives capture the scale of sky and sea under fast-moving clouds. Together, the images create a visual story of contrast—motion and stillness, strength and fragility, warmth and storm.
Mediterranean IL is my interpretation of Israel’s coastline: luminous, textured, and constantly evolving.
